So Many Humans are Starved for TouchAbility™

(human to human consensual physical touch)

Starved for Touch
(the sharing of physical energy)
It’s at the heart of Physical Intimacy.
For many it is the Spirit of all Intimacy.
It’s been primary for each of us even before we were born.

It’s our first sense,
one foundation of nurturing,
an essential of love and healing.

How we touch,
Who we touch,
When we touch,
Where we touch. . .
And how, who, when and where we don’t
communicates volumes to others about us
moves other toward or away from us
&
creates the structure for the fabric of our lives.

Even those of us
Who are smart
Who are educated
Who are beautiful
Who are promiscuous
Who are in relationships
Who have ‘everything’

may unawarely be starved for meaningful physical Touch.
We may be starved for TouchAbility™

TouchAbility™ a Way of Thinking

Another friend called to ask "What is TouchAbility, exactly?" So I realized that in the 10+ years I've used the term I've not been interested in creating a limiting boundary for it.
Much more useful to me has been defining additional ways of thinking, seeing and perhaps even feeling and sensing.  I ended up waxing expansive and poetic.

TouchAbility:
Your ability
  to touch, sense and enhance your physical body & sensations and your emotions;
  to touch, sense and enhance another's physical body & sensations
     and their emotions about it.
Your ability
   to touch, sense and amplify your heart and your emotions;
   to touch, sense and safe-port another's heart and your and their emotions.
Your ability
   to touch, sense and intensify your spirit and your vibrance;
   to touch, sense and augment another's spirit and vibrance.

&
Your ability
   to touch others at the same time.
& even
Your ability
  to assist - teach others
  to assist - teach others to expand their TouchAbility & our culture's. . . .

All this within the fabric of TouchAbility

Touchability™

Well here goes (fears be vanquished/ignored).  I have my friend Bill encouraging and challenging me on the phone as he plays with his 5 and 8 year old boys who are still snugly and comfortable with lots of touch.
In this blog I want to think about our cultural norms in human-to-human touch and relationships and partnerships while being more and more willing to expose my fears to the world as I work/play to change our culture around touch.
